OK, So Maybe Not
The Movable Type upgrade... did not go so well. So, here we are back at 3.34, which makes up for its lack of newness by not causing total site-wide chaos.
C’est la vie.
At least now I can post some new items I’ve been thinking about. Thanks again to my site mechanic, Steve, who promises to herald a new age for Current Config in the near future.
Get Back On It
After some recent “life events,” I got a little waylaid in my efforts to make Current Config super fantastic internets. Expect more very soon.
Now, I must be going. I have a horse to catch.
Upgrade Complete
As promised, Steve Laniel delivers. Hopefully, the spam will be diminished. We’ll see. Either way, MT version 3.34 is cooler. And faster, even.
Spam Inundation
The parasites of the web are hammering the site with comment spam, which I’m deleting in droves. I guess somebody got a spamming company for Christmas. I may need to shut off commenting for a while before I upgrade and take more comprehensive steps to reduce the amount of garbage collecting on this site, with the help of my man.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Dear Spam-bot writers,I hope you all get cancer of the eyeballs and die.
Sincerely,
Chris
PS: And so does everyone else.
We Are Back
My old host went belly-up, so I had to transfer Current Config to a new host. We’ve been ironing out problems since then.* I think things are good now.
Stay tuned for more posts and the R Design site, coming very soon.
Apologies to those directed to the R Design site without success, and those trying to post comments and were “forbidden”. It was nothing personal, I swear.
*Meaning I watched while my man worked things out.
Comment Problems Fixed
If you were trying to comment and couldn’t, well, now you can. Post away!
Is This Thing On?
I’m going to be messin’ with the design of Current Config for a little while, so hold on to your...eyeballs. Hopefully, we’ll all come out of this for the better.
The New Hotness
Courtesy of my capable and generous host, Current Config is now on MT v 3.14.
Kapow!
Apologies to anyone whose comments on the last few posts got zapped. The site went a bit wiggy a few days ago and ate some content. Um, feel free to repost if you’re so inclined. I restored what I could, the rest is lost to the ether. And you know what they say about ether:
“There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible than a man in the depths of an ether binge...” —Hunter S. Thompson
Dear Spam Jackholes
In the coming weeks, I will try to stop the comment spammer-bots from advertising their illicit and irrelevant crap on my site, but in the meantime:
Dear Spam-bot writers,I hope you all get cancer of the eyeballs and die.
Sincerely,
Chris
PS: And so does everyone else.
Mark 'Em Up
For all you code jockeys aching to italicize or perhaps emphasize or even, dare I say it, link, the "HTML allowed" feature in Comments is now active.
Dare to dream, people.
A Mast for My Head
Behold, the stark beauty of the black letterform, expressed with graceful economy through Scala Sans by Martin Majoor, who is Dutch and is also way better at type design than most humans. It is my masthead.
